Pioneers and renewal
Château Gaby - Damien Landouar
- Fruit, spice and a separate parcel selection: Château Gaby combines ripe red fruit with lightly toasted, spicy notes. Gaby Cuvée is a distinct selection from the estate’s best plots, blending Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for a layered wine with rounded, silky tannins.
- Learning the profession: The son of railway workers, Damien Landouar trained in agriculture before arriving at Gaby in 1997. He also learned at Château Gazin under Jean-Pierre Gasteuil.
- Continuity through ownership changes: He stayed at Gaby despite changes of ownership. In 2016, Tom Sullivan entrusted him with running four properties, including Château Gaby, which produces Canon-Fronsac.
- An organic Canon-Fronsac: At Gaby, Damien farms the clay-limestone slopes organically; the Canon-Fronsac wine combines Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
