Pioneers and renewal

Domaine Sérol - Carine et Stéphane Sérol

  • Reviving the local gamay: Stéphane Sérol took over the family estate and cleared hillsides in the Côte Roannaise before returning them to vines. He replanted gamay Saint-Romain, the local gamay.
  • « Les Blondins », Sérol and Troisgros: Another story links the family to cooking: Robert Sérol and chef Pierre Troisgros created Les Blondins in 1992. The vineyard remains jointly owned by the two families; it is a separate project from Domaine Sérol, although their stories are closely linked.
  • The first parcel in bottle: « Oudan » 2024, a red Côte Roannaise made from gamay Saint-Romain, comes from the first parcel Stéphane planted on a granite hillside. The estate recommends serving it slightly cool, at 14–16 °C, and gives it three to seven years of ageing potential.
