Château La Rame - famille Armand
- Sweet white and structured red: La Rame’s Sainte-Croix-du-Mont combines citrus, tropical fruit and acacia notes with a lively acidic balance. La Charmille is a different proposition: a rounded, spicy red Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux supported by tannins. The former suits blue cheese or fruit desserts; the latter is the château’s choice for duck breast.
- An estate looking towards exports: In 1993, Olivier Allo joined his wife Angélique Armand at La Rame. He took charge of wine sales and developed overseas markets.
- A shelter in the name: According to the Guide Hachette, “La Charmille” takes its name from a shelter formed by hornbeam trees beneath which the Armand family ate lunch in the early twentieth century. This family memory remains associated with the cuvée.
- A red for duck breast: “La Charmille” is now a red Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux. The château describes it as round, spicy and supported by tannins, and recommends it particularly with duck breast.
