Historic estates and founders

Domaine André et Michel Quenard

  • Chignin Vieilles Vignes 2025: This jacquère comes from parcels planted in 1930. Apple and white flowers accompany a supple palate; the estate recommends shellfish or fondue.
  • From café casks to estate bottling: André Quenard sold wine in casks to café owners before switching to bottles around 1960. Michel then expanded the vineyard and winery. Guillaume joined after studying in Beaune and Changins, Switzerland, and notably took charge of winemaking.
Pioneers and renewal

Domaine Dupasquier

  • A commitment to time: In the 1970s, Noël and Marie-Jeanne Dupasquier took over neglected vines and chose to hold their wines, while harvests were still being sold during the winter.
  • Wines rested before sale: David and Véronique continue this choice: after ageing and bottling, the wines rest for two to four years in underground cellars before sale. The estate thus seeks gradual maturation at naturally stable temperature and humidity.
  • The altesse of Marestel: Marestel 2021, listed in the estate’s range in 2026, is an altesse-based Roussette de Savoie. For this cuvée, the estate generally indicates linden blossom and honey notes and recommends it with poultry or scallops.
Defining estates and collectives

Domaine des Ardoisières - Brice Omont

  • A village reclaims its hillside: At Les Ardoisières, everything began with a hillside in Cévins abandoned to scrub. The mayor and Michel Grisard rallied the village to restore a terraced vineyard there.
  • Terraces returned to cultivation: The woodland had to be cut, stumps removed and tracks laid out before cultivation could resume. Brice Omont then joined the project and established himself as a grower with Michel Grisard on these restored terraces.
  • Cévins becomes « Schiste »: The Cévins terraces notably produce « Schiste », a white in IGP Vin des Allobroges. Its technical sheet brings together jacquère, roussanne, malvoisie and mondeuse blanche. For the 2022, the RVF notes a balance between richness and freshness.
Discoveries and alternatives

Domaine Denis et Didier Berthollier

Savoie · Chignin

  • A goddess on a slope of fallen stones: « La Coulée de Proserpine » links the name of a Roman goddess of renewal to an actual scree slope. The cuvée comes from a single parcel at the top of the lieu-dit Les Toises, on the mountain of La Savoyarde.
  • Bergeron is the local name for roussanne: This Chignin-Bergeron is made from roussanne, called bergeron in Savoie. The cuvée presents the variety in the precise place that gives it its name.
  • Apricot, almond and freshness: « La Coulée de Proserpine » offers aromas of dried apricot, almond paste and candied citrus; the palate balances generous fruit and freshness.
