Place & climate

  • Location: The lower Miño near its Atlantic mouth, on Spain’s side of the Portuguese border.
  • Climate: Maritime moderation combines with the river-valley setting.
  • Soils & relief: River terraces and granite-derived ground shape local vineyard sites.

Grapes & label

  • Legal name: Rías Baixas Rosal is the named-subzone white wine; O Rosal is the geographical subzone.
  • Current blend: At least 70%, collectively, from one or more of Albariño, Loureira and Caíño Blanco.
  • Companions: Other permitted white varieties may supply the balance; the rule no longer lists only Albariño and Loureira.
  • Origin: The grapes must be grown and the wine made in this subzone.

Style & table

  • Blend identity: Loureira and Caíño Blanco are particularly useful companions to recognise alongside Albariño.
  • Contrast: O Rosal is more directly maritime than inland Condado do Tea.
  • At the table: Assess aroma, acidity and texture before pairing with fish or a dish with aromatic herbs.
