Place & climate

  • Location: The northernmost subzone, inland along the Ulla near the Pontevedra–A Coruña boundary.
  • Climate: Atlantic influence persists, with river-valley and inland site differences.
  • Soils & relief: Mainly granite-derived soils, with schist in places and alluvial ground beside the river.

Grapes & label

  • Legal name: Rías Baixas Ribeira do Ulla identifies the named-subzone white wine.
  • Current blend: At least 70%, collectively, from one or more of Albariño, Loureira, Treixadura and Caíño Blanco.
  • Shared rule: It has the same principal-group minimum as Rías Baixas Salnés; other permitted whites may provide the balance.
  • Origin: The grapes must be grown and the wine made in this subzone.

Style & table

  • Geographical contrast: This northern river corridor is distinct from the southern Miño subzones.
  • Style: Do not derive one fixed aroma or body from the subzone alone; grape blend and cellar choices matter.
  • At the table: Pour a dry example with grilled prawns or oysters; the fresh acidity keeps the seafood pairing bright.

At the table

  • Albariño: Pour a dry example with grilled prawns or oysters; the fresh acidity keeps the seafood pairing bright.
  • Service: Fresh dry whites: 9–11°C; textured whites: 11–13°C.
