Place & identity

  • Location: The Graves area, on the Garonne’s left bank.
  • Colour: Sweet white wine.
  • Grapes: Sémillon and Sauvignon are key references, with Muscadelle also possible.
  • Label distinction: Supérieures is part of this sweet-white appellation’s name, not a higher classification for Graves reds.

At the table

  • Assess: Assess sweetness, acidity, alcohol and concentration together. Do not assume a fixed sugar level or that Sauvignon alone supplies the wine’s freshness.
  • Pair: Roquefort or Stilton, pan-seared foie gras, or spice-glazed duck offer savoury contrasts. A fruit dessert can also work if its sweetness does not overwhelm the wine.
  • Service: Start around 8–10°C and use a measured 70–90 ml pour as a practical starting portion. Let the wine develop in the glass; routine decanting is unnecessary unless the actual bottle calls for it.
