Scotch is distilled and matured in Scotland

• at least three years in oak casks.
• Grains are mashed, their sugars fermented and the liquid then distilled.

• Malting germinates barley, then stops germination by drying.
• When peat smoke is used during drying, it can leave a smoky character in the whisky.
